Gego Lee Music promotes new artistes with Out a Focus rhythm
As a budding producer, Fabian “Gego” Lee has experienced challenges in getting major acts to record on his projects.
Realising that up-and-coming acts experience similar difficulties as it relates to opportunities from established music producers, Lee decided to throw his support behind these acts.
His latest project,
Out a Focus rhythm, features three songs by emerging acts, namely Kosa, Full Maxx and Statts and Donai Singleton.
“It was intentional for me to work with solely new acts for this project. As a young producer, it can be challenging to get household names to work with, so I opted to work with my surrounding artistes and friends, who all share the same dreams as I do — to be successful in the music business,” Lee explained.
The
Out a Focus rhythm was released on February 9 via Gego Lee Music and distributed via ONErpm.
The songs featured are
Born Fighter (Kosa),
Top Dreams (Full Maxx and Statts), and
Never Give Up (Donai Singleton).
Lee hopes that the songs will be well-received by the public.
“As a label, we are all about promoting positive music, music with substance, and music that will have shelf life. There’s a market for music that will inspire and provide hope to others,” Lee reasoned.
He said that working with the artistes on the project over the several months for it to be completed was a joyful experience.
“These are artistes that I am very familiar with and we have much things in common. So it was very natural to be working with them. The studio vibe was energetic and filled with joy,” shared Lee.
In the past, he has worked with artistes including Shawn Ice, 21 Law, and Logical.
Lee said he was drawn to music from being around artistes.
“I was employed by Luigi Society as the road manager for recording artiste Lavisch and he later introduced me to Munga Honorable, so I was constantly around music daily. Prior to that, I recorded my own song at the age of 18 for Baraka Productions,” he told the
Jamaica Observer.
Originally from the Majesty Gardens community, Lee has big plans for his Gego Lee Music label.
“I want to eventually attract household names while still trying to help young artistes and continue to learn more about the music industry,” he said.
