53-y–o construction worker charged with rape
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica – Three charges have been laid against a 53-year-old man from Westmoreland who has been charged with rape after he was accused of sexually assaulting a woman at his home on December 30.
According to the police, the man is a construction worker of Whitehall district, Negril.
In addition to the rape charge, the man was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and malicious, and destruction of property on Thursday.
Reports from the Savanna- la- Mar Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) are that about 5:00 am, the woman was asleep, when she was awoken by the man, who demanded sex. The woman refused and he allegedly used a knife to cut and remove her clothing and proceeded to punch her several times.
He then reportedly held her down and sexually assaulted her.
The woman made a report and the man was arrested on Tuesday, during a targeted raid at his home. He was subsequently charged and is currently awaiting a court date.
