Second place at stake in JFF Championship

Second place in the Jamaica Football Federation Championship will be at stake in today’s 11th round of games when Tru-Juice FC hosts third-placed Chapelton Maroons at Turner’s Field. The match is set to start at 3:30 pm.

Tru-Juice FC are on 21 points, one more than Chapelton Maroons who are on a hot streak and are unbeaten in their last five games.

Leaders Racing United are away to relegation battlers Falmouth United at Elleston Wakeland Centre and fourth-placed Baptist United hosts Faulkland FC, who have won their last two games.

Tru-Juice had won the first meeting between the teams 1-0, in the 2021-22 season, but have won just once in their last three games and will be seeking some consistency.

Chapelton Maroons are showing the form that took them to the final two seasons ago and will hope to add another three points.

Racing United and Falmouth United had played out a 3-3 draw at Elleston Wakeland last season and the St Catherine-based team comes into the game with the best record in the competition, leading with 25 points and having scored 31 goals in 10 games.

Falmouth United had their first win in seven games when they beat Hopewell United 3-0 last weekend, their first clean sheet of the season, but have picked up five of their nine points in their last three games.

Faulkland FC will hope their momentum can continue as they seek a third-straight win against a Baptist Alliance team that had impressed before going down 5-1 to Racing United last weekend.

Faulkland FC have not conceded a goal in their last two games, beating Petersfield FC 4-0 and ending Meadforest FC’s three games winning run with a 2-0 margin.

In the only meeting, Faulkland FC had beaten Baptist Alliance Alliance 5-2 and will hope for another three points today as they continue to climb out of the lower half of the tables. Brown Town FC, who are in fifth place, will host Hopewell United with an eye towards moving into the top four positions, while St Bess United will hope to get the better of Meadforest FC when they meet at Lacovia Community Centre.
