St Catherine businessman charged after firearm seizure
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica – A 48-year-old businessman has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition following the seizure on Darlington Drive in Catherine on Friday.
He is Kevin Bent, otherwise called ‘Kevin Square’, of East Bay Drive, Old Harbour, in the parish.
Reports from the Old Harbour Police are that about 1:30 pm, a team of lawmen – who were conducting a vehicular checkpoint operation in the area – intercepted a Honda CRV motor vehicle with Bent aboard.
A search of the vehicle was conducted, during which a Girsan 9mm pistol with an attached magazine containing ten 9mm cartridges was allegedly found on the front passenger seat.
Bent was taken into custody where charges were laid on him.
A court date is being arranged.
