Seaforth defend St Thomas Major League title

Seaforth Sports Club defended the Serge St Thomas Major League title by defeating White Horses FC 1-0 in a thrilling final match at the York Complex on Sunday.

Shamar Bennett scored the winning goal in the 15th minute, securing Seaforth’s fifth-consecutive league title.

Despite challenging weather conditions and a strong opposing team, Seaforth’s determination and defensive prowess paid off.

Seaforth’s Coach Landsdale Parry praised his team’s defensive skills, acknowledging that possession was surrendered frequently but credited his players for standing their ground.

White Horses FC showed skill and had previously defeated Seaforth three times this season.

White Horses defeating Seaforth 1-0 in the knockout, lost 2-1 in the first leg of the league of the Major League, then returned to humble the defending champion 1-0 in the end of round final and 2-1 in the return leg in the preliminary round.

White Horses’s Coach Tevin Applewaite recognised his team’s mistakes and emphasised the need for strategic recruitment to enhance their performance.

Seaforth will represent St Thomas in the JFF play-off, scheduled for July 20.

Sunday’s event concluded with presentations honouring outstanding players and coaches, including Javier Grant, Roberts Stephen, Lamar Edwards, and Landsdale Parry.

Marissa Hayman, brand manager for Serge, expressed satisfaction with the sponsorship and praised the community’s support.

Wayne Thompson, president of the St Thomas FA, commended Seprod for their partnership and encouraged further investment in the parish’s football development.
