Watch ‘Shawn Storm’ lawyers react as Privy Council quashes conviction
KINGSTON, Jamaica – While it wasn’t the verdict they wanted in its entirety, the attorneys for entertainer Shawn ‘Shawn Storm’ Campbell expressed gratitude after their client’s murder conviction was quashed by the Privy Council in the United Kingdom on Thursday.
Campbell along with three co-accused, including dancehall icon Adidja “Vybz Kartel” Palmer, had been convicted for the 2011 murder of associate Clive “Lizard” Williams and sentenced to life imprisonment.
The Privy Council unanimously concluded that the convictions should be quashed on the grounds of juror misconduct and that the case be remitted to Jamaica’s Court of Appeal to decide whether to order a retrial.
