#Champs2024: 24 athletes to compete in Class 3 girls’ 400m semis
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Hydel High’s Sashana Johnson and Holmwood Technical’s Tracey-Ann Evans are the top qualifiers heading into the semi-final round of the Class 3 girls’ 400m at the ISSA GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships.
Johnson dominated heat three to record a time of 56.08 seconds. She finished ahead of Maggotty High’s Keana Parker (1:00.15) and Holy Childhood’s Tiasha Barrett (1:00.35).
Meanwhile, Evans clocked 56.75 seconds to win heat four ahead of Shannaty Burke of Ferncourt High (59.18) and Manchester High’s Vennesha Pommells (1:00.36).
In heat one, Clarendon College’s Tresha-Lee Sutherland (57.69), Campion College’s Isabelle Dodd (59.54), and William Knibbs’ Sheldain Jarrett (59.66) all advanced, while Kevina Bourne of Port Antonio High (56.87), K’Alee Graham of Mount Alvernia High (58.86), Kimanda Swaby of Lacovia High (59.95) and Jessica Hamilton of St Hugh’s High have advanced from heat two.
Heat five’s qualifiers are St Jago High’s Shannia Campbell (58.19), Nastascia Collins of Vere Technical (59.67), Hydel High’s Trisaenia Cohen (59.75) and Tashona Brown of Alphansus Davis (1:00.40). Meanwhile, Gizan Wesley of Clarendon College (57.58) and Kimberly Wright (58.84) are the heat six qualifiers.
Safely through the next round from heats seven and eight are Alyssa Carty of St Jago High (56.96), Daniellia Dixon of William Knibb (57.74), Mareka Williams of St Elizabeth Technical (58.06), Lanoya Franklin of Mount Alvernia (9.09) and Llande-Kaye Hibbert of Holmwood Technical (1:00.46).
The semi-final of the Class 3 girls’ 400m will take place on Wednesday at 9:20 am.
