#Champs2024: KC chasing quinella in Class 1 boys’ 1500m final
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Kingston College’s Brian Kiprop and Ethan Gioko will seek a one-two finish in Wednesday’s final of the Class 1 boys’ 1500m at the 113th staging of the ISSA GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships.
Kiprop, who won gold in Class 2 in the event last year, crossed the line in a time of 4:10.42 to secure his spot. Charehon Connally of Maggotty High (4:10.66), Rahiem Walker of St Jago High (4:13.48), Edwin Allen High’s Joel Morgan (4:14.23), Kemarrio Bygrave of Jamaica College (JC/4:14.51) and St Elizabeth Technical’s Barrain Smith (4;14.82) are also through to the final.
Gioko cruised to a time of 4:11.55 to lead the Heat One qualifiers to the next round. Nellie Ambriton of JC (4:09.60), Bellefield’s Roquelme Johnson (4:16.10), Edwin Allen High’s Joseph Parks (4:20.40), Adriano Brown of Calabar High (4:12.50) and Waval Davis of Foga Road High (4:06.00) have also advanced.
The Class 1 boys’ 1500m final will take place at 4:10 pm.
