JUTC driver stabbed after reportedly refusing to stop at non-designated location
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — A Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) driver was stabbed this morning after he reportedly refused to let off a passenger at a non-designated point.
Police reports indicate that a male passenger requested a stop at a non-designated area, and upon refusal, the passenger stabbed the driver.
The driver’s current condition remains unknown as he receives treatment in the hospital.
Speaking with Observer Online, JUTC’s Corporate Communications Manager Kimberly Gardner confirmed the incident, noting that a company representative was currently with the injured driver at the hospital.
As a result, the police advised the public to anticipate delays as JUTC drivers on the Portmore to downtown Kingston route have purportedly halted services.
However, Gardner did not confirm this withdrawal of services.
More details soon.
