Top sounds, artistes ready to rumble at Sashi Synergy Sound Clash

Bass Odyssey sound system has made its mark in the arena from its work over the last 35 years. The sound system, along with Metromedia, Sound Trooper (with Ricky Trooper) and Tony Matterhorn, will face off at the Sashi Synergy Sound Clash on Friday May 24 at Plantation Cove in St Ann.

Dubbed the ultimate 80s and 90s sound clash experience, the event will see sounds competing for supremacy, showcasing their lyrical skills and mixing while engaging the crowd.

“You can expect musical vibrations, and nothing but the best at Sashi Synergy,” said Lexie, a selector with Bass Odyssey.

“As usual, Bass Odyssey is all about musical enjoyment. For the most part, we are always prepared for a clash. We have done countless clashes because we are coming from an era where every night is a clash,” Lexie shared in an interview with the Jamaica Observer.

On April 12, at Club Amazuru in New York, Bass Odyssey competed in a clash with King Addies, all with the intention to honour the roots and legacy of Jamaican sound clash culture.

Also a part of the upcoming sound clash will be Metromedia with Sky Juice.

“Expect the best and some great things from Metromedia. From me and Sky Juice deh deh, that’s a plus. It’s all about the chemistry to bring the heat and keep the patrons entertained,” Oliver Metro, a member of the Metromedia team, assured.

The eight-member Metromedia has been around since 1990.

Last Thursday, at the Rebel T Headquarters in Kingston, a special draft similar in format to the NBA draft took place, with each sound system choosing the artistes who will be on their crew at the sound clash.

There will be 10 rounds, and 40 artistes in total. The sounds and their team members are as follows:

Team 1: Bass Odyssey – Candy Price, Daddy Lizard, Danny English, Flourgon, Josey Wales, Junior Cat, Roundhead, Echo Minott, Little John, and Singing Melody

Team 2: Ricky Trooper – Bunny General, Jigsy King, Little Briggie, Major Mackerel, Professor Nuts, Screechie Joe, Terror Fabulous, Admiral Tibet, Little Kirk, and Nitty Kutchie

Team 3: Metromedia – Admiral Bailey, Frisco Kid, Oneil Famous, Peter Metro, Reggie Stepper, Wickerman, Tishana, Quench Aid, Singing Sweet, and Tristan Palma

Team 4: Matterhorn – Esaw, General B, Lady G, Mega Banton, Ricky General, Terry Ganzie, Guinney Pepper, King Kong, Little Chris, and Papa Michigan
