Hydel leads six J’can teams into 4x100m championships final at Penn
PHILADELPHIA, United States — Defending champions Hydel High led six Jamaican teams into Friday’s final of the high school girls’ Championships of Americas 4x100m final after running 45.99 seconds in Thursday’s first round of the 128th Penn Relays Carnival at Franklin Field in Philadelphia.
Former champions Holmwood Technical- 46.38 seconds, St Jago High-46.55 seconds and Edwin Allen High -46.59 also advanced as well as St Mary High- 46.46 and Wolmer’s Girls- 46.72 to the ‘big final’.
Meanwhile, another seven schools are through to the International final, the consolation for overseas schools that failed to make it to the championships race.
St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS)-47.72 seconds, Immaculate Conception- 47.73 seconds, Excelsior High- 47.82 seconds, St Andrew High, Vere Technical 48.28 seconds, Manchester High 48.37 seconds and St Catherine 48.52 seconds are through as well.
