A win for Further and Beyond in Legal Light Trophy feature

THE staging of the $1.4-million Legal Light Trophy, an Open Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward honouring thoroughbred Legal Light (Element
– Portia), who is widely regarded as one of, if not the best horse ever to race in Jamaica, takes centre stage at the races tomorrow.

This year’s Legal Light Trophy — despite only five horses competing — should be a competitive event over the trip of nine furlongs and 25 yards.

Below is the analysis of the runners and their chances of winning:

1. RHYTHM BUZZ: (4 b c by Buzz Nightmare
– River Rhythm) – Did extremely well to reach this level.
Rhythm Buzz comes into the Legal Light on the backend of two consecutive victories. R
hythm Buzz is fit and ready to compete, and with the field this small he should be in the running.

2. FURTHER AND BEYOND: (6 ch h by
Blue Pepsi Lodge – Rumble) – Easily the best horse in the line-up, based on class and talent.
Further and Beyond is not the horse he once was but he has been doing fairly well in his races. He has raced three times this season, holding a victory and a second-place finish.
Further and Beyond was just 2½ lengths away in second place behind
Desert of Malibu in the St Cecelia Cup over 6½ furlongs on March 23, a clear indication that he still has some firecrackers in the bag. Look for a win from the former Horse of the Year here.

3. GREEN GOLD RUSH: (7 b c by Adore The Gold – Princess Lorna) – Finished third by 14 lengths behind current Horse of the Year Atomica and Is That A Fact in The Viceroy Trophy over nine furlongs on April 1.
Green Gold Rush is expected to run another pleasing race here.

4. STOMP THE RHYTHM: (5 b g by Savoy Stomp – River Rhythm) – Capable runner who is returning to competitive racing from a 230-day break.
Stomp The Rhythm last competed on September 10, 2023 when he finished in fifth position by 10 lengths behind Blue Vinyl in the Kenneth Mattis Memorial Trophy over tomorrow’s distance.
Stomp The Rhythm should play his part here. Note: Tongue-tie will be off.

5.
BIG BIG DADDY: (7 dk b h by Natural Selection – Just A Flutter) – Should be safely bypassed here.
