Bunny Shaw recovering from surgery on broken foot

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Manchester City Women’s striker Khadija Shaw is now recovering from a broken foot injury sustained during the Women’s Super League match against West Ham United on Sunday, April 21.

Shaw made the announcement via an Instagram post moments ago.

Sharing that she had to undergo surgery to treat the injury, Shaw said, “Gutted to know I suffered a broken foot in the game against West Ham but grateful the surgery went well. The greatest stories are those who define all odds.”

“Thanks to everyone for the heartwarming well wishes on my road to recovery. I appreciate every single one. I will continue working hard off the pitch during my rehab and I can’t wait to be back doing what I love. God is able,” the Jamaican striker added.

Shaw limped out of a 5-0 thrashing of West Ham at half-time and did not return. She left in a protective boot while leaving the City’s Joie Stadium fuelling speculation over her unavailability for the last three games of the season.

Shaw lashed in a first-half brace, scoring in the third and 24th minutes to take her tally for the season to a league-leading 21 goals.

Behind Shaw’s form, City have won a record 13 consecutive games and are well-positioned to clinch their second league crown, the first since 2016.
