Intrestntimesahead leads 27 horses provisionally entered in 2024 Jamaica 2000 Guineas
INTRESTNTIMESAHEAD, champion two-year-old from last season, headlines 25 three-year-old colts and geldings provisionally entered in the 2024 Jamaica 2000 Guineas. The 2000 Guineas will be contested on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at a
mile.
Intrestntimesahead (Bold Conquest – My Friend Lucy) is undefeated in two starts this season. He won the Prince Consort Stake over seven furlongs (1,400m) on April 14, and The Kingston over 7½ furlongs (1,500m) on May 5. Having won those races while giving weight away and now sitting level with his peers in the 2000 Guineas, the Jason DaCosta-trained
Intrestntimesahead should again be on top of rivals.
DaCosta will also saddle the undefeated Fearless Attack, Provident, and
Teflon Don. He also has the undefeated California Crown and the yet-to-race
Captain Fantastic on the Also Eligible list.
Former three-time champion trainer Anthony Nunes has eight runners of the top 16 horses provisionally entered. His starters are Allegiance, Captain Sparrow, Crown Chaser, King Piye, Playfair, Smart Trick, Prince Amaan, and World Surprise.
Allegiance, Captain Sparrow, and Crown Chaser look the more advanced of Nunes’ runners and ones that can impact the 2000 Guineas Classic race.
Allegiance won the Sir Howard Stakes over six furlongs (1,200m) on March 24 but failed to figure in the Prince Consort Stakes and The Kingston.
Allegiance is going to enjoy the distance of the 2000 Guineas.
Captain Sparrow finished fourth in the Prince Consort and made tremendous improvement to finish second in The Kingston. Captain Sparrow will again be a dangerous contender.
Crown Chaser placed second in the Prince Consort and third in the Kingston.
Crown Chaser has only run in three races so far in his career and therefore progress is predicted, as is a strong performance in the 2000 Guineas.
Nunes has one horse on the Also Eligible list – Supremasi.
Carlton Cunningham is the only newly licensed trainer with a horse in the line-up as he will saddle Global Machine.
The full list is published.
