Coach Wright optimistic after STETHS claim U-16 rural cricket title
CARL Wright, head coach of St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) cricket team, says the future looks bright after his team thrashed Manchester High by nine wickets in the Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association Rural Under-16 final on Thursday.

“It was a really great effort from the Under-16 boys,” Wright said after the final victory at STETHS Sports Complex.
“We have been doing well at the Under-16 level with quite a few youngsters. This season Odane Binns made three centuries and 72 not out in the final.
“They are learning the game and [we] expect them to come up to the Headley Cup (Under-19) over the next two to three years. I hope these guys can stay focused and do well in the sport and their schoolwork as well,” the STETHS head coach added.
Batting first, Manchester slipped calamitously from 102-1 at the end of the 20th over to be bowled out for 137.
Demario Hall top scored for Manchester with 64 while Tesfah Ward added 26. Raheim Jamieson and Demetri Binns claimed 5-20 and 4-49, respectively, for St Elizabeth Technical.
In reply, the Santa Cruz-based school coasted to 138-1 on the back of the unbeaten half-century from the in form Binns. Humaro Reid, who struck 41 before he retired hurt, was the next best scorer for STETHS.
