While the world was on pause during the pandemic, then University of the West Indies Integrated Marketing Services major Toni-Shea Grey was binge-watching YouTube videos on how to crochet. “I always liked seeing crochet pieces, and decided to use the downtime to learn a new skill,” Grey told
Tuesday Style Fashion (TSF).

Her masterclass started in June 2020, and by November she was ready to launch Thread Lightly by Toni, which consists of bags, crochet swimsuits, dresses and hats.

Fast-forward to 2024 and Grey says each piece is a masterpiece meticulously crafted to add a touch of sophistication to any ensemble. Handcrafted from tubular yarn, the bags are durable and fully customisable. Once the yarn is available in the colours requested, Grey can make your bag dreams come true. The bags are also pretty secure. “Even though there is no locking mechanism, the bag maintains structure and keeps its contents in place,” says the designer.
