Cushnie x Lulu and Georgia

First…

Fashion designer and creative director Carly Cushnie has entered her next chapter. Known for her influence in the fashion world, Cushnie is bringing her celebrated sense of style to interiors with her first-ever line of furniture — exclusively for Sara Sugarman’s Los Angeles-based online home décor shopping site, Lulu and Georgia.

The line dropped on June 4, and was commemorated by an Architectural Digest feature penned by Brooklyn-based culture writer Noella Williams.

Next…

Multi award-winning Jamaican actress Sheryl Lee Ralph made good on her promise to Whoopi Goldberg to attend the Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit Reunion. On Wednesday The View hosted the reunion with Kathy Najimy and Wendy Makkena and musical leaders Marc Shaiman and Mervyn Warren.

In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the film, Ralph live reacted to a recent meme — a Sister Act 2 scene with Ralph’s character Florence — that has been making the rounds on social media. Florence tells her daughter, “Singing does not put food on the table…pay the bills…if you want to win in life then keep your nose in them books and out of the cloud”. In between each statement, the meme shows compilations of Ralph singing over the years. With tears in her eyes, Ralph shared that she channelled her Jamaican mother in that scene and if she was able to see [her acting], she would say “Laad God Jesus, yuh good girl”.

At Ralph’s visit to The View in February, Goldberg extended an invitation to Ralph to attend the reunion which was in the planning stages at the time. Goldberg went further to ask Ralph if she would want to be a part of Sister Act 3 which is in the works. Ralph gets emotional as the audience applauds the public invitation.

Also…

Italian fashion designer Riccardo Tisci, American singer/songwriter Solange, and model Anok Yai all showed up for celebrity hairstylist Jawara Wauchope’s dancehall-inspired party at Silencio, New York. But, the biggest stars on the guest list were his Jamaican parents, reggae star Carol Theresa East, known as Sister Carol, and his father Dean Wauchope.

The event, dubbed J40, was held on Friday, May 31.

And…

Let’s get into British-Jamaican actress Jodie Turner-Smith’s high-fashion New York City press run for her role as Mother Aniseya in the new instalment of the Star Wars franchise The Acolyte. The beauty served four looks in just under 24 hours, and we love every single one!

Plus…

Bajan singer and beauty & fashion mogul Rihanna is expanding her Fenty Beauty empire!

The billionaire took to Instagram to reveal her new hair care line, Fenty Hair.

Rihanna announced the news with a short video, captioned: “My hair has always been a huge part of my career and personal evolution, and @fentyhair was created to keep up with our hair and lifestyle, while constantly strengthening and repairing our hair with each use. I can’t wait for y’all to experience this!!”

Fenty Hair — an addition to the Fenty Beauty line — will release on June 13.
