Bakya’s Mob Ties mixtape has arrived

Although he has been on the music scene professionally since 2021, dancehall artiste Bayka wanted to ensure that his very first body of work was specifically tailored to suit his target demographic.

On Thursday night, inside The Balcony on Knutsford Boulevard in New Kingston, the launch of his debut mixtape Mob Ties took place. The event was hosted by Fyahman, and several of Bayka’s co-workers in the entertainment fraternity came out to show support.

Mob Ties features one guest collaborator, teenage sensation Najeeriii.

“Good things come to those who wait. Anything weh tek time to do, it hard fi mash up. A good foundation tek time fi build. Wi never wanted to disappoint the fans, so it took time,” Bayka told the Jamaica Observer when asked about the delay in releasing the project.

The artiste got assistance from several producers whose musical talents are evident on the 13-track Mob Ties. They include Franc “Zimi Franc” White, Sean God, Zimi Kemzy, Uni, Fanatix, and Yo Christian.

The launch, which was sponsored by Magnum Tonic Wine, saw performances from the likes of Iwaata and Jahshii. Pablo YG, Desha Ravers, Jah Frass, Valiant, and Pretty Pretty were among those in attendance.

Bayka spoke about working with Najeeriii on the track 1086.

“The energy behind 1086 is real. It’s a day-to-day vibe between me and Najeeriii. We see each other almost every day and we always a link up. The energy is solid,” said Bayka.

He also shared the creative process that was involved in the project.

“Yaw fi be true with yuself and yuh supporters. Yuh just have to be you when you put out a project; be natural and mek di people dem feel it,” he said.

Songs on Mob Ties include Mob Style, You Alone, Nice to Meet You, Far Away, and Tutty Two.

Mobster, 1Uptown, Top Tier and Gyal Dem Shift are among the songs that have made Bayka a hot commodity among music fans.
