WE all know the little lies that women make up — for self-preservation, protection, and after years of being harassed — to get men to leave them alone. Whether it’s a fake name, fake number, or using the ‘I have a boyfriend’ line, the aim is simple: sometimes you have to do what you have to do to be left alone.

But it’s not just women who exhaust themselves trying to come up with reasons to distract a man and his unwanted attention; men, too, say they have to make up lies to make women leave them alone — women who are desperately passionate about landing a beau.

What lies do they tell women to make them quit the chase?

Sanjay, 33:

“I’m looking for a sugar mama myself”. Majority of them are looking for a man to mind them, so once they see that we’re in the same poverty boat, they usually move on.

MJ, 40:

“My partner may have a problem with that.” Pretending or hinting that I’m not into women is often enough to let them check somebody else.

Michael, 44:

“I can’t manage your size”. I know it’s cruel, but hinting that she has a weight problem usually works.

Deshawn, 32:

I don’t say anything. I just look them up and down, and stare at them like Dexter, until they get uncomfortable.

Jev, 45:

I tell them that my woman is a ‘strapting’ gyal who can fight, and she will beat them. In fact, my wife goes to church every Sunday. But no woman wants a whooping.

Jayson, 24:

Tell her you really like her browning friend.

Keyvon, 25:

Ask her if she can cook, and say that’s a deal breaker. Most of these women nowadays can’t cook, so nine out of 10 times, you’ll get rid of them.
