Baseball legend Willie Mays dies at 93
Willie Mays, regarded as one of the greatest and most beloved players in baseball, has died. He was 93.
According to a report from the Associated Press (AP) Mays’ family and the San Francisco Giants announced in a joint statement that the legend passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon surrounded by loved ones.
“It is with great sadness that we announce that San Francisco Giants Legend and Hall of Famer Willie Mays passed away peacefully this afternoon at the age of 93,” the San Francisco Giants wrote in a post on X.
Nicknamed the “Say Hey Kid” , Mays was baseball’s oldest living Hall of Famer.
He had a triumphant baseball career spanning decades, which began in the Negro Leagues. He spent 21 years with the New York Giants, who later moved to San Francisco, and ended his career at the New York Mets, a report from Yahoo! Sports said.
