KINGSTON, Jamaica — Franklin Town Church of God Basic School and Regent Street Basic School were the beneficiaries of the Masters and Celebrities’ “Bring Back the Love” football charity as they received laptops and fans from conceptualiser Clive “Busy” Campbell.

The charity games were played on Labour Day (May 23) between the Christian Ambassadors team and Referees team which drew 2-2,  while the Singers Invitational and Deejay Invitational, battled to a 3-3 draw at Harbour View Mini-Stadium.

Campbell, who has been organising these events for years, chose these two schools this year after touring the facilities.

He made the presentation to both institutions in Franklin Town in early July.

Having born and grown up in Franklin Town that has flare-up of violence occasionally, Campbell urged the youngsters to put down the gun as he addressed the kids at the school.

“I believe kids must know the truth because the truth will set us free. What is happening now in Jamaica is very heartbreaking. When in the communities the kids cannot leave from one street to the other street, it’s all over Jamaica,” Campbell pointed out.

“I am pleading to all those who have guns, thrown down  the arms, let us just try to live in peace and love because the creator gave us a life to live and everybody have a life to live,” Campbell added.

Cheryl Livingston, principal of Franklin Town Basic while accepting the gift, paid tribute to Campbell and his organisation.

“We are very grateful to Mr Campbell for this kind gesture and we know that the children will indeed benefit from it. Thank you very much,” said Livingston.

Meanwhile,  Principal of the Denham Town-based Regent Street Basic Kaye-Ann Brown-Radlin,  also expressed gratitude for the gesture.

“Hats off to Campbell and his team for their effort and we know it will not be a one-off thing and will be something that will be continuous,” said Brown-Radlin.

Her assistant, Dion Wallace Clarke chipped in, “For the tokens that the school will be getting we are grateful and we appreciate and I know that the children and staff and everyone on board will benefit from this kind gesture.”

The kids then sang “Smile a While and Give Your Face a Rest” much to the delight of Campbell, who joined in the rendition.
