MP Malahoo Forte wins celebrity chef cook-off at MoBay Jerk & Food Festival

ST JAMES, Jamaica — Marlene Malahoo Forte is not just a Member of Parliament and the Minister of Legal and Constitutional Affairs, but she is also a chef.

The MP emerged victorious at the Celebrity Chef Cook-off segment of the Montego Bay Jerk & Food Festival held on August 1 at the Catherine Hall Entertainment Centre in St James.

This year’s cook-off, presented by The Best Dressed Chicken, saw fierce competition among the participants which included Malahoo Forte, Mayor of Montego Bay Richard Vernon, Senator Janice Allen, and Yangseng Li.

Impressing the judges and audience with her culinary skills and creativity, Malahoo Forte secured the top spot in the competition with a dish that exemplified the vibrant flavours and rich traditions of Jamaican cuisine.

Speaking on her victory, Malahoo Forte said, “Participating in the Celebrity Chef Cook-off was an incredible experience…I am not known for my cooking so it was an incredible surprise to be chosen as the winner. This event truly embodies the spirit of our community and our shared love for Jamaican food.”

Thanking The Best Dressed Chicken its sponsor, Festival Promoter John Lindo shared, “This event brought together our community leaders in a fun and engaging way, and it was a true celebration of our culinary heritage. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the participants, sponsors, and attendees who made this event a grand success.”

The Montego Bay Jerk & Food Festival continues to be a cornerstone event in Jamaica, providing a platform for local talent and fostering a sense of community.
