Agent expects Nicholson to have best season yet
Jamaican international Shamar Nicholson’s agent Kevin Cowan says the player is set for possibly his best season as a professional after what he says were two difficult seasons.
Nicholson is in pre-season preparation with his Russian Premier League team Spartak Moscow after playing most of last season with French Ligue 1 side Clermont Foot 63.
“I strongly believe that this season will be the best of Shamar’s career to date,” Cowan told the Jamaica Observer. “Obviously at the club level, the past two seasons have been difficult and his productivity declined, somewhat. However, there were several situations behind the scenes that were out of his control that negatively impacted him. Shamar, though, has consistently proven that he’s resilient and he has the capacity to overcome difficult challenges.”
The former Boys’ Town striker who scored four goals in 26 appearances in Ligue 1, on loan from Spartak last season, could be on the move again. Cowan added, “Now he’s at Spartak Moscow training tirelessly with the main team and patiently awaiting his opportunity. Consequently, I cannot say for certain if he will be at Spartak or if he will join another club this season, we’re keeping all possibilities open. Rest assured, however, wherever he may be this season, Shamar will produce a special season.”
Nicholson, who is expected to be included in new Reggae Boyz Head Coach Steve McClaren’s squad for the September international break, first moved to Domzale in the Slovenian League in 2017 before making the transition to Charleroi in Belgium two years later.
His big move to the Russian giants came in 2021, and he was part of the Russian Cup winning team that beat Dynamo Moscow in 2022.
