Ruppi’s Tun it Up Loud hits the road

Several newcomers, top acts contribute to new project

Last year, music video director-turned-music producer Rogen Walker, aka Ruppi, teamed up with Zimi Records for the blockbuster Big Bunx rhythm which spawned several hits.

Ruppi has now released his solo project Tun it Up Loud under his Now or Never label.

Red-hot dancehall artiste RajahWild leads the project with the title track.

In an interview earlier this week, Ruppi spoke about the inspiration behind the project and working with the artistes to produce 16 tracks that will accompany the project over several weeks.

“The inspiration came from the instrumental itself. This was created by Chimney Records and from there I wanted to do a single with RajahWild, but something felt extra special about the track, so I decided to feature some artistes that I listen to a lot,” Ruppi explained.

Although he refused to divulge much of the artiste line-up for the project, Ruppi said Roze Don, Skippa, Najeeriii, and Teebone are among those who have already recorded songs.

Getting the artistes to work on the project wasn’t a difficult process.

“It has been easy so far. The strategy is usually to focus on artistes that are close to my brand. They usually set the tone and naturally make the rest of the process easy,” shared Ruppi.

Magnum Tonic Wine has partnered with Ruppi on Tun it Up Loud.

“Magnum represents dancehall, and I thought Tun It Up Loud was the perfect project to blast in their boardroom. All I know is we are going to have some fun,” said Ruppi.

RajahWild’s Tun it Up Loud was released on August 16, while the first batch of songs will be released over the next two weeks. The first set will feature up-and-coming acts, and within a month a batch featuring established acts will hit the streaming platforms.

Having had some experience in music production, Ruppi explained what he’s bringing to the game.

“The experience has taught me to just go with the flow and enjoy the music. Most importantly, respect the culture. I am working on other projects; this is just the beginning,” Ruppi shared.

He added: “Music has always played an important role in my life. So to get the opportunity to create your own music and channel your own ideas on a track, then to create the visuals to present to the world, has been a dream of mine.”

Tun it Up Loud, he said, has a lot in store for music fans: “I really think they will love it! If you love dancehall and love to party…tune in!”

Ruppi began directing music videos under the RD Studios banner some 13 years ago. Some of the videos that he has directed include Loodie by Vybz Kartel and Shenseea,
Family by Popcaan, Gvnman Shift by Skeng, Wild Out by RajahWild, and
Mad Out by Valiant.
