Shannon Sharpe ‘embarrassed’ over viral Instagram Live sex tape
American commentator Shannon Sharpe says he has been left “embarrassed” and “disappointed” after accidentally sharing a live audio of himself engaging in sexual activity to his more than three million followers on social media platform Instagram.
“I am very disappointed in myself, not for the act… but to have your most intimate detail to be heard, I let a lot of people down,” Sharpe said in an episode of his podcast Nightcap, which he hosts alongside fellow retired American football player Chad Johnson, on Wednesday night.
“This was not staged. I came in, I threw my phone on the bed, engaged in an activity… I have never turned IG Live on so I don’t know how it works,” he explained.
He said “my heart sank” when he was informed by a member of his marketing team that the audio of his sexual activity went live to his followers, the explicit content featuring a woman moaning and calling out Sharpe’s name.
The NFL legend had initially claimed that his account was hacked but retracted that statement.
“My heart sank. It dropped. Then, I called my agent, the agency, and ESPN. I just got to tell them the truth. My phone wasn’t hacked. It was me being a healthy, active male,” he said on the podcast.
