Tuesday Style Vows allows the newly-weds to share their story.

Queen Simone nee Simone Rhoden

“I met Milton, who I affectionately call Kingman, 16 years ago while I was working at Go West as a sales representative. He was selling CDs at the Half-Way-Tree bus stop across from KFC. I remember it clearly! It was a warm evening in 2007 and I was heading to the bus stop. As I walked past, I heard a charming, captivating voice comment on my attire
. He was referring to the knee rip in my distressed jeans.

“I immediately looked up, looked at him and smiled. I did feel myself blushing but kept on moving. Since he was stationed at my regular route I continued to see him and he never stopped making passes. Truth be told, I started to enjoy the attention I was getting from him. Indeed, I soon became a customer of his, and too, developed a close friendship.

“We’d talk about our goals and aspirations for the future. He had just come out of a relationship. I was single and started to develop strong feelings for him. I found his ambitious, driven-nature, his commitment and hunger to learn, grow and develop himself as a man, and his love for his son very endearing.

We started dating eight months later, on August 16 2007. Who knew that our journey would culminate in marriage? “I love him, I cherish him and will forever adore my Kingman with all my heart.

Kingman nee Milton Maghanza

“I saw her from afar looking confident and stepping like a champion. She stood out! It was like she was parting the crowd with her presence. She certainly caught my eyes. I started to look out for her in the evenings and was overjoyed when she started to buy CDs. I would ‘lyrics’ her too, … soon we developed a friendship. I had just come out of a relationship and she was playing hard fi get! It took me months to win over one woman. A definite first for me!

I started to fall in love with her. Her confident presence and beautiful smile aside… the person who she is on the inside captivated me. Her ambitions, her dedication to go after her goals and the way she accepted and cared for me in a way I have never been cared for. She would often say things like you can’t win if yuh nuh right within.

She will hold me accountable and make sure that I stand on my word as a man. I knew that this woman was not a normal queen. Her loyalty to stand by me when I had nothing was very admirable.

She always encouraged me to be a good father to my children; Maurice my first son that she met me with and Jahvea the daughter that we share together.

I love the fact that she never changed and has stood by what she believed in and stayed true to who she said she was from the beginning: real and authentic like her name Authentic Queen.

“ I proposed to her on her birthday, August 15, when our daughter Jahvea was five years old. We’ve encountered a lot of obstacles, but we’ve pulled through. And now, years later, we are finally married.

Highlights included

Mustard gold and red wine.

The rings were contained in a crown container.

A vintage feather pen was used to sign the document.

Moment of anxiety… Kingman’s son Maurice arrived late after being stuck at the airport for hours. Plus, his luggage got stuck in Florida. Nothing could stop him from turning up to witness his father’s marriage and deliver a most heartfelt speech.
