JFDF, here’s to year 10!

The Jamaica Food + Drink Festival launched on Tuesday, September 24 with tasty fare, crafted cocktails, and rousing news.

The festival — set to celebrate its 10th anniversary during a four-day run from Thursday, November 7 to Sunday, November 10 — is presented by Visa and sponsored by longtime partners National Commercial Bank (NCB), CB Chicken, and Copperwood, as well as new partners CIBC, and Scotiabank. Additional sponsors are Select Brands, Appleton, Pepsi, Worthy Park, Heineken, Caribbean Producers Jamaica (CPJ), Seprod, Walkerswood, Pure Ice, Caribbean Dreams, Monymusk, Gas Pro, Jamaica Producers, and Hampden Estate.

New to the festival calendar is Decade, a four-in-one event dedicated to celebrating 10 years of the JFDF, highlighting fan-favourite events Picante, Pork Palooza, Chopsticks, and Crisp. And as the festival continues to highlight the talent of local chefs — this year’s line-up includes, among others, Christian Sweeney, Gariel Ferguson, and André Sewell — the organisers have invited some not-so-familiar names to add an international flair. Jetting in for the 10th-anniversary staging are Jamaican-born celebrity chefs Andre Fowles and Wenford Patrick Simpson, Miami-based restaurateur Jose Mendin, Panamanian chef and restaurateur Mario Castrellón, and mother-daughter duo Shelly and Jatuan Flash from New York taco truck 2 Girls & a Cookshop.

Jamaica Food + Drink Festival kicks off with Kuyah on Thursday, November 7, Decade takes place on Friday at Hope Garden, while Meet Street, & the Market invades Port Royal on Saturday, November 9.
