JCF condemns killing of police sergeant

KINGSTON, Jamaica — The High Command of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is mourning the loss of Sergeant Patrick Mahoney, who was shot and injured at his gate in Bridgeport, Portmore, St Catherine last Thursday.

Mahoney succumbed to his injuries on Monday, November 11.

Commissioner of Police, Dr Kevin Blake is expressing his condolences on behalf of the Police High Command to the family, friends and colleagues of the slain policeman, who was assigned to the St Catherine North Police Division.

Reports are that about 9:45 pm, Mahoney was at his gate when he was pounced upon by two armed men who demanded his vehicle key. When their demands were not met, the men opened gunfire at the sergeant before escaping in the area, the police said.

Sergeant Mohaney was assisted to the hospital where he was being treated. However, on Monday, November 11, he succumbed to his injuries whist he was being treated.

The force’s Chaplaincy Branch and Welfare Department is providing support to the family members, friends and colleagues of Sergeant Mahoney.
