Broadbell looks to soar to new heights with Francis

Olympic Bronze Medallist Rasheed Broadbell says he’s looking forward to doing great things with legendary track and field coach Stephen Francis after returning to the MVP Track Club.

Broadbell, who finished third in the men’s 110m hurdles at this summer’s Paris Olympics, confirmed to the Jamaica Observer his return to the University of Technology (UTech) club after ending his three-year stint with Reynaldo Walcott at Elite Performance Track Club.

The 24-year-old, who began his professional career at MVP, says Francis can help him to reach higher heights.

MVP Head Coach Stephen Francis

“Our goals have been aligned since I was there at the end of 2019 so I don’t think anything has changed per se. We both share those goals and with the help of his experience and everything about track and field, those goals can come to life next year,” he told the Observer.

Along with his Olympic bronze medal, the former St Jago High standout won gold at the Commonwealth Games in 2022 and claimed national titles in 2023 and 2024.

He’s the third fastest Jamaican in the history of the 110m hurdles with 12.94 seconds and since 2020, he’s one of seven men to run sub 13 seconds.
