Market at The Lawn marks 14 years of holiday magic
Now in its 14th year, Market at The Lawn remains a beloved celebration of Jamaican creativity and community spirit.
The holiday market returns to Devon House on Sunday, December 15, and Sunday, December 22, 2024, inviting shoppers to embrace the festive season while supporting local talent.
The outdoor market, which started in 2010 at 13 West Kings House Road, was inspired by the iconic Brooklyn Flea Market and brought to life by founder Kaili McDonnough Scott. Her vision of creating a space for Jamaican artisans and entrepreneurs to connect with customers in an authentic, vibrant environment has flourished over the years. Today, it is a staple on Kingston’s Christmas calendar, attracting hundreds of visitors annually.
This year’s market will feature more than 50 vendors showcasing an eclectic mix of handcrafted goods, artisanal foods, and eco-friendly products.
From jewellery and art to gourmet treats and bespoke homeware, the event caters to shoppers seeking unique and meaningful gifts that reflect Jamaica’s rich culture and craftsmanship.
“Market at The Lawn is not just a marketplace; it’s a celebration of Jamaican entrepreneurship and creativity,” said Lyndsey McDonnough. “It’s about fostering a connection between artisans and a community that values authenticity, quality, and local ingenuity.”
This year, National Commercial Bank (NCB), the event’s title sponsor, will enhance the experience by showcasing its innovative ePOS solution, enabling vendors to accept cashless payments and providing added convenience for shoppers.
A dedicated children’s area, and a Christmas backdrop sponsored by Pepsi Cola Jamaica, will feature engaging activities to keep young visitors entertained.
Culinary sponsor Maggi will delight attendees with product samples, while continued support from Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) underscores the market’s role in promoting local enterprise.
Amid the rush of international e-commerce and shipping deadlines, Market at The Lawn serves as a reminder of the value of buying local. Every purchase helps to strengthen the Jamaican economy while supporting small businesses and artisans who pour their passion into their work.
The event will be open from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on both days, with free admission and ample parking available at Dilcoosha Avenue and the Girl Guide headquarters.
