Protest underway for Lawrence Tavern resident killed in police operation

KINGSTON, Jamaica — A protest is now underway for the Lawrence Tavern resident who was shot and killed by police during an operation last Friday.

According to the placard-bearing residents, 39-year-old Andrew Richards was killed in cold blood.

The protest started after 5:00 am.

The police reported that an illegal firearm was seized during Friday’s targeted operation which saw the fatal shooting of Richards.

However, the residents insist that Richards did not have a weapon and at least one of them could be seen walking with a placard calling for the police to “stop placing guns on innocent people”.
