IN an exciting conclusion to the 2024 Capital Betting and Wagering Limited/Jamaica Observer Tipsters’ Competition, Ruddy Allen (Kool Kat) and Jason Duncan (Jah Son) emerged victorious, taking home the top prizes in the Most Wins and Monetary categories, respectively.
Allen’s dominant performance saw him lead from start to finish, accumulating an impressive 257 winners — eight ahead of last season’s champion Bernadette Bisphoe (Miss Cookie) who finished on 249 winners.
Duncan, meanwhile, demonstrated exceptional betting prowess, ending the year with a staggering $28,725, with the other tipsters exhausting their quotas.
The prize-giving ceremony, held at Escape Bar & Grill in New Kingston on Thursday, saw Allen and Duncan each receive $50,000 for their outstanding performances.
Anthony Allen (Gujurat) was third with 245 winners and Sherdon Cowan (The General), with 244, was fourth in the Most Wins category. The other tipsters were Kingsley Gentles (The Genius – 237 winners), Donald Bahadur (Sir Donald – 236 winners), Duncan (231 winners), Robert Bailey (Bailey – 223 winners), and Garfield Robinson (221 winners).
The competition, which ran throughout 2024, saw nine tipsters vie for the top spots. Each tipster started with a nominal $20,000 and was required to place a minimum bet of $250 per race day. Quarterly prizes of $20,000 were awarded to the tipsters with the most wins and the highest-accumulated monetary value.
