Alana Reid joins Nugent and Pryce at Arkansas camp
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Jamaica’s World Under-20 women’s 100m champion Alana Reid has changed camps and is now based at the University of Arkansas Hurdles Mechanics group, multiple sources have confirmed to Observer Online.
Reid, who won two gold medals at the World Athletics Under- 20 Championships in Lima, Peru in August, including the 100m title, had trained alongside American World Champion Sha’Carri Richardson at the Florida-based Star Athletics outfit under coach Dennis Mitchell.
At Hurdles Mechanics she will train alongside Jamaican Olympic teammates Ackera Nugent and Nickisha Pryce under coach Lawrence ‘Boogie’ Johnson.
Reid, who signed a professional contract after completing Hydel High, foregoing a scholarship at the University of Oregon, was part of the Jamaica relay set up at the Paris Olympic Games in August.
Reid is also the national junior record holder in the 100m with her personal best 10.92 seconds set at the 2023 ISSA Champs.
