Husband charged following wife’s stabbing

TRELAWNY, Jamaica- Forty-seven-year-old Anthony Mendez, a farmer and construction worker of Wait-A-Bit, Trelawny was charged following an incident on Sharp Avenue, May Pen, Clarendon on Saturday, June 20, 2015.

Reports from the May Pen police are that about 6:30 pm, Mendez and his wife who were at a guest house in the parish, got into a dispute when Mendez allegedly stabbed her.

Mendez reportedly made good his escape on foot in the area. The woman was assisted to the hospital where she was treated and released. She later made a report to the police and an investigation commenced.

On Monday, January 6, 2025, Mendez was apprehended by the Ulster Spring police and later escorted to the May Pen Police Station. He was later pointed out by the complainant.

Mendez was subsequently charged with wounding with intent on Wednesday, January 15.

His court date is being finalised.
