PNP mourns passing of Phyllis Mitchell
PHYLLIS Mitchell, who represented the People’s National Party (PNP) in the constituency of St Catherine North Eastern, has died.
The PNP said that Mitchell died early on Tuesday.
“Comrade Mitchell was a dedicated servant of Jamaica and a committed member of our party. She represented the constituency of North East St Catherine as a Member of Parliament and later served as minister of state in the Ministry of Education and Culture,” the party said in a statement.
“Her passion for education and public service remains an enduring part of her legacy.”
The party said Mitchell’s contributions to national development and her unwavering commitment to uplifting others will forever be remembered.
“The party will provide additional details regarding arrangements to honour her life and service in due course,” it said. “We extend our deepest sympathies to her family, loved ones, and all who share in this loss. May they find strength in the legacy she leaves behind.”
