Reggae Youths, Lilliput Rovers draw 2-2 in Sandals Major League
ST JAMES, Jamaica — Former champions Reggae Youths came from behind twice to earn a 2-2 draw against Lilliput Rovers in their St James Football Association/Sandals Resorts International Major League top of Zone A game played at Spot Valley High on Sunday.
A week after they came from behind to draw with defending champions Granville United, Reggae Youths had to scramble to salvage a point and remain at the top of the points tables, on goal-difference, ahead of Lilliput Rovers, both on eight points.
Also on Sunday, Heights FC came back from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw against Montego Bay Boys Club at the Urban Development Corporation (UDC) Field.
Amara Reid scored a first-half double for Lilliput Rovers, giving them the lead in the 13th minute while Oliseh Haye equalised in the 30th minute before Reid restored the lead in the 42nd minute.
Natoniel Wilson then scored a second goal for Reggae Youths in the 56th minute to earn a point.
At the UDC field, Rainnar Barnes scored a double for Montego Bay Boys Club, netting in the 24th and 34th minutes before Jevar Maxwell pulled one back for Heights FC in the 49th minute and then Michael Thompson levelled the scores in the 55th minute.
On Saturday, Bogue FC surprised defending champions Granville United 1-0 to win their first game, after losing their first three games.
A day earlier, Green Pond SC stayed at the top of the tables in Zone B after a 3-0 win over Cambridge FC while Flankers FC moved up to second place after a similar margin against Norwood Strikers.
At Green Pond, the host rebounded from their loss to Flankers FC in the previous round as Garth Bromwell scored a league-leading fourth goal in the eighth minute to give them the lead.
Martino Seal doubled the scores in the 40th minute with his first goal of the season while Jerome Whynn added a third goal in the 70th minute.
Flankers FC won back-to-back games as they scored three times in the first 21 minutes against Norwood Strikers who have lost all five games played.
Reynaldo Irving gave Flankers the lead in the 13th minute, Tevin Fuller made it 2-0 two minutes later and Massiah Clarke got his second goal of the season in the 21st minute.
