Five arrested in Oracabessa police operation
ST MARY, Jamaica — Five people were taken into police custody during a coordinated operation in Oracabessa, St Mary on Thursday.
According to a police report, between 6:00 am and 11:00 am, members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), led by Acting Superintendent Anthony Wallace and Deputy Superintendent Kevin Francis, in partnership with the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF), executed a series of operations within the Marson Town and Baileys Vale communities.
The police said four individuals were arrested in relation to the seizure of five 12-gauge cartridges, while one person was held on various breaches including disorderly conduct, obstructing police officers and resisting arrest. Their identities are being withheld.
An additional five .22 rounds of ammunition were seized in another section of Oracabessa, the police said.
The St Mary police have vowed to remain vigilant in their efforts to reduce the proliferation of illegal ammunition and firearms in the parish.
They are encouraging residents to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or call 119.
