Roman Catholic priest injured in early morning robbery in Trinidad and Tobago
PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) – Officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service are probing an incident in which a Roman Catholic priest was injured during an early morning robbery in Sangre Grande.
In a statement, the Archdiocese of Port of Spain said it is deeply saddened by the incident.
The police report that Father Maurice White, a resident at the St Francis Roman Catholic Church, was injured during the robbery at Vega de Oropuche, Sangre Grande.
A post by the Roman Catholic Church said medical personnel “have advised he is receiving treatment and is stable.”
The Roman Catholic church has called for prayers for White’s recovery and all involved.
“Let us remain united in faith, trusting in God’s healing and peace in our nation,” the church said.
