Murder suspect killed, cop injured in Manchester operation
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — A man who police identified as a murder suspect was fatally shot and a policeman wounded during an operation in Downs, Manchester on Wednesday morning.
Preliminary reports are that about 4:10 am the police went on an operation in Downs district in search of the suspect when they were shot at. According to the police, the gunfire was returned and the suspect wounded. He was taken to hospital and pronounced dead.
The police have not released the suspect’s name.
Meanwhile, a policeman was also injured during the incident but his vest protected him from life-threatening injuries. He was taken to hospital for treatment.
The police said a firearm was seized during the incident.
