Honey B’s Happy For You
Revelling in another person’s joy is the theme for Happy For You, the latest song by singer Honey B.
Released in late January, it is produced by Lloyd Shaw for Issachar Muzik out of Los Angeles.
Honey B, who is from Modesto, California, says Happy For You is all about good vibes.
“It presents an opportunity for a beneficial attitude adjustment when you find yourself surrounded by the success of others, feel inspired, not discouraged. Because whether your name is on the achievement, or someone else’s, we can all tap into that triumphant feeling of a job well done,” she told the Jamaica Observer.
Happy For You features the legendary Roots Radics Band, known for backing elite acts like Bunny Wailer, Gregory Isaacs, and Barrington Levy.
Although she was born in Central California, Honey B spent a lot of her youth in Jamaica. While living in Cove, Hanover, and Little London, Westmoreland, she developed an admiration for the music of Bunny Wailer, Sister Carol, Brigadier Jerry, and Super Cat.
Honey B, whose previous songs include I Only Belong To You and Good Energy, found it easy putting her vocals to the ‘Radics’-patented hard-core roots sound.
“My sound is really versatile, and I’ve toasted on all kinds of rhythms, but roots-reggae with a truthful, conscious theme is always at the core of my works,” she said.
Originally from Kingston, Shaw has been part of the California reggae scene for many years. Through Issachar Muzik, he has produced songs by roots acts such as Link And Chain and lovers’ rock singer Mary Isaacs.
