Warner Brown hat trick powers Arnett Gardens to derby win over Tivoli

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Warner Brown scored a dramatic four-minute hat trick as Arnett Gardens rallied to beat 10-man Tivoli Gardens 5-3 in their Jamaica Premier League second-round derby played at the Stadium East Complex on Monday.

Tivoli Gardens led 3-1 up to the 69th minute before the ‘Junglists’ rallied to score four goals in the final 20 minutes of the game and saw Brown take over the scoring lead with 13 goals and Arnett Gardens moving past Montego Bay United into second place on the points tables.

Tivoli Gardens led 2-1 at half time with goals from Nickalia Fuller in the 24th minute and Roshawn Oldfield in the 35th minute sandwiching a 25th minute goal from Joel Jones.

They seemed to be well on their way to a comfortable win when Tkiven Garnett scored in the first minute of the second half to extend their lead 3-1.

The Arnett comeback started in the 70th minute when Brown cut the deficit to one goal with a strike and just one minute later, drew Arnett Gardens level at 3-3.

Tivoli Gardens were reduced to 10 men in the 73rd minute when Malik Cockings was sent off for dragging down an Arnett player and Brown stepped up to convert the penalty that was awarded and complete his hat trick.

To rub salt in the Tivoli Gardens wound, Fabian Reid who came off the bench in the 55th minute, added a fifth goal in time added to kill off the game as a contest.

In the first game of the doubleheader, defending champions Cavalier FC beat Vere United 2-1 to end a four-game winless run.

In that opening game, Jalmaro Calvin celebrated his maiden call-up to the Reggae Boyz team with an eighth minute goal, his 12th of the season, to give Cavalier the lead before Kevaun Atkinson equalised for Vere United in the 21st minute.

Shaquille Stein scored the winner in the 59th minute as Cavalier FC pocketed a long overdue win.
