KINGSTON, Jamaica — Niesha Burgher of the University of Texas-El Paso (UTEP), Vashaun Vascianna of the University of Arkansas and Demario Prince of Baylor University were in record-breaking form at their respective NCAA indoor meets last weekend.

Burgher ran a UTEP school record 22.79 seconds to win the women’s 200m at the New Mexico Team Open held in Albuquerque and also won the women’s 60m in a new personal best 7.26 seconds after she had run 7.33 seconds in the heats.

With the meet venue at high altitude, Burgher’s time was adjusted to 22.86 seconds, fourth best in the NCAA so far.

Vascianna, who transferred to Arkansas this season, ran a lifetime best 7.63 seconds to win the Men’s 60m Hurdles at the Razorback Invitational, seventh best all time for the University of Arkansas.

His time beats his previous best 7.64 seconds which he ran twice.

Prince equalled his personal best in the 60m hurdles, running 7.62 seconds at the DeLoss Dodds Invitational at Kansas State University, setting a meet and facility record in the process.
The previous meet record 7.76 seconds was set by Sincere Rhea of the University of Miami last year.

Also at the New Mexico Team Open, Kimar Farquharson of Texas A&M University was fourth in the men’s 400m in 45.92 seconds and former Hydel High runner, Mickaliliah Vassal of New Mexico State was fifth in the women’s 400m in 54.97 seconds.

Trevor Gunzell of the University of Arkansas was second in the men’s shot put with 19.06m while his teammate Christopher Young was fourth with 18.35m.

Horizontal jumpers Nia Robinson and Apalos Edwards of the University of Arkansas were winners at the Razorback Invitational at Arkansas.

Robinson won the women’s triple jump with a personal best 13.41m — second best ever at Arkansas — while Edwards won the men’s event with 16.37m, beating Luke Brown of the University of Kentucky who had a season best 15.96m, with Safin Wills of the University of Oregon seventh with 15.18m.

Machaeda Linton of Louisiana State University (LSU) was third in the women’s long jump with 6.63m, moving up to number four on the LSU all-time list with Arkansas’ Robinson fourth with a season’s best 6.55m.

Jordan Turner of LSU was fourth in the men’s long jump with 7.67m.

Rivaldo Marshall of the University of Arkansas won the Men’s 800m in 1:46.80 seconds and his teammate Tyrice Taylor was third in a personal best 1:46.93 seconds.

Oneika McAnuff of Kentucky was fourth in the women’s 400m in a seasons best 52.15 seconds, Malique Smith-Band of the University of Florida was fifth in the mens 200m in 21.03 seconds.

Olympic Games medallist Rajindra Campbell was second in the men’s shot put with 20.45m and Kobe Lawrence of the University of Oregon was third in a season’s best 19.21m.

At the DeLoss Dodds Invitational, Demar Francis of Baylor University won the men’s 200m in 21.05 seconds beating teammate Ricquan Graham in 21.21 seconds.

Graham was also fourth in the men’s 60m in 6.89 seconds and Francis fourth in the 400m in 47.35 seconds.

Shaquena Foote of San Diego State was second in the women’s 200m, running 23.46 seconds, beating Safhia Hinds of Kansas State who ran a personal best 23.98 seconds.

Jhavor Bennett of Kansas State jumped a personal best 7.27m for third in the men’s long jump while Daniella Anglin of South Dakota was also third in the women’s high jump with 1.71m.

Shantae Foreman won the women’s triple jump at the Bob Pollock Invitational held at Clemson University with 13.66m while Leah Anderson ran a season’s best 52.05 seconds to win the women’s 400m, Shanque Williams of Clemson was fifth in a personal best 53.51 seconds while Natoya Goule ran 54.59 seconds for eighth place.

Adrienne Adams of Auburn was second in the women’s weight throw with a personal best 20.00m.

Tarees Rhoden ran a lifetime best 47.09 seconds for third in the men’s 400m and Tahj Hamm of Clemson University was eighth in 47.88 seconds.

NCAA Indoor finalist and Big East Conference champion Roschell Clayton of Villanova won the women’s high jump at the Penn State National Open, clearing 1.77m, Annishka McDonald of West Virginia was eighth with 1.71m and Malaika Cunningham of Villanova was ninth with 1.68m.

Rochele Solmon of Hampton University was fourth in the women’s shot put with 15.11m while KeSean-Jordan Rhooms of Morgan State was sixth in in the men’s triple jump with 14.10m.
