KINGSTON, Jamaica–The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) has introduced two new routes, which will operate between Chapelton and May Pen in Clarendon; and Castleton Gardens in St Mary to Half-Way Tree, St Andrew.

Route #504, which will operate between Chapelton and May Pen, started on February 5, while Route 52B, which connects Castleton Gardens to Half-Way Tree, commenced on February 3.

Addressing a recent post-Cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House, Minister of Education, Skills, Youth and Information, Senator Dr Dana Morris Dixon, said the Government remains resolute to introduce new routes for commuters.

She said the introduction of Route #504 is a direct response to the needs of commuters in Clarendon, noting that it will serve passengers travelling via Turners and New Longville, offering regular service operated from the Spanish Town Depot.

Morris Dixon noted, too, that commuters will benefit from an affordable fare structure, with adults using SmartFare cards paying $100, cash $150; seniors, $50 SmartFare card and cash, $150; while children, students and individuals with disabilities will pay $50 with SmartFare card and cash, $150.

She said that Route 52B will operate four trips daily in each direction, making stops along Toms River, Temple Hall, and Golden Spring.

Students, children, and individuals with disabilities will pay $20 using the SmartFare card and cash, $100, while seniors will pay $25 with SmartFare card and cash, $100. Adults with SmartFare card will pay $50 and $100 if they are using cash.

The minister also noted that a few weeks ago, service began from St Thomas to Kingston.
