KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jerome Campbell of Northern Colorado University set a new personal best, school record and meet record on Friday, winning the men’s 60m hurdles in 7.55 seconds at the Arkansas Qualifier held at the Randal Tyson indoor facility in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

The former Calabar High standout, lowered his lifetime best and school record from 7.58 seconds he set in 2023 and the meet record 7.59 seconds set in 2022 by Louis Rollins.

His new mark saw him move three places up the all-time Jamaican rankings from 10th to joint seventh with Giano Roberts and he is now joint fifth in the NCAA and leads the Big Sky Conference.

Marrisa Simpson of the University of Texas-El Paso (UTEP) won the women’s 60m hurdles in 8.20 seconds.

Three Jamaicans took the podium positions in the women’s 400m with Leah Anderson winning with 51.27 seconds, ahead of Stacey Ann Williams (51.43 seconds) and Nickisha Pryce (51.45 seconds), while hurdles specialist Andrenette Knight was fifth in 52.83 seconds.

Shamar Reid of South Plains Community College was second in the men’s shot out with 17.42m.

Niesha Burgher of UTEP was fourth in the women’s 60m final, running 7.34 seconds.

At the LSU Twilight in Baton Rouge, Donroy Brown of Southeastern Louisiana won the men’s shot put with a season’s best 17.54m, while his teammate Josh-Ty Brown was third with a personal best 16.49m.

Shadane Smith of Hind Community College won the men’s 400m in 50.96 seconds.
