KINGSTON, Jamaica- Jamaican Nikaoli Williams of the University of Oklahoma was second in the men’s long jump on Thursday’s opening day of the South-East Conference indoor championships at Texas A&M University.

Williams had a best jump of 7.89m as freshman Jayden Keys of the University of Georgia won with a personal best 7.92m.

Three Jamaican women made it to the final of the women’s long jump with Nia Robinson of the University of Arkansas placing third with 6.54m; Aaliyah Foster of the University of Texas was fifth with 6.46m and Machaeda Linton of Louisiana State University was sixth with 6.28m.

No Jamaican women advanced past the first round of the 200m with Carleta Bernard of the University of Texas just missing the cut, placing ninth in 23.29 seconds, Joanna Reid of the University of Arkansas was 15th with 23.53 seconds and defending 60m champion Brianna Lyston of LSU was 18th overall in 23.61 seconds.

Former Herbert Morrison runner Mark Anthony Daley of the University of Louisiana won the men’s 200m at the Sunbelt Indoor championships, running a personal best 21.23 seconds.

Meanwhile, former Edwin Allen High athlete, Rochele Salmon of Hampton University threw a personal best 15.30m to place second in the women’s shot put at the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Indoor championships that ended on Thursday.

Her teammate Damali Williams was seventh in the women’s weight throw with a mark of 16.26m.
