Scorpions bowlers toil as Harpy Eagles build solid platform
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica Scorpions continued to toil on the opening day of the regional first-class match against Guyana Harpy Eagles at Sabina Park.
At the tea break, the reigning champions Harpy Eagles were 168-1 with Kevlon Anderson unbeaten on 82 and opener Matthew Nandu on 50 not out.
Scorpions pace bowler Odean Smith took the lone wicket to fall when he trapped Tagenarine Chanderpaul leg before wicket for 32 in the opening session.
Earlier, the visitors won the toss and opted to take first strike in sunny conditions at the venue.
The decision to bat proved to be a good one as the batting team dominated the first two sessions notwithstanding the dismissal of Chanderpaul.
