#BudgetDebate2025: PNP to exempt MSMEs from corporate income tax for three years – Robinson
If the People’s National Party (PNP) is returned to Government after the next general election, Micro Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) would be exempted from paying corporate income tax for three years.
Opposition Spokesman on Finance, Julian Robinson gave the commitment on Thursday during his contribution to the 2025/26 Budget Debate.
He said the move is to provide greater financial flexibility for MSMEs to grow and develop. In this regard, the PNP would “exempt new MSMEs from corporate income tax for an initial three-year period, with the possibility of an extension to five years,” Robinson said.
He shared that the initiative will extend to businesses that started before its implementation and are still within their first one to three years of operation.
Robinson said the policy will encourage MSMEs to enter the formal economy, allowing them to access government support and institutional benefits without the immediate burden of corporate income tax.
