Mark Golding on Tuesday started opening the Opposition’s manifesto to the country during his 2025/26 budget debate presentation in which he declared the People’s National Party (PNP) “united with fresh ideas and solid plans… ready to assume the mantle of Government to deliver growth, opportunity and progress for all”.

Golding, who will contest the next general election as PNP president for the first time, made a slew of promises in his three-hour-long presentation which featured affordable housing, improvements in education, security, renewable energy, social transformation, constitutional reform, and the creation of an ethical society for national development.

Declaring that the PNP will champion positive change if it is elected to office, Golding said the party will be giving more details of its policies and programmes “in the next few weeks”.

“Examine our policies, and decide for yourselves… do not get distracted, do not be intimidated by anyone who seems to want to rob us of our democratic way of life. Jamaica doesn’t belong to either the PNP or JLP, it belongs to all the people of Jamaica, who every four to five years determine who they want to lead them. The people of Jamaica are the title-holders of this nation,” he said.
