Brazilian Alison Dos Santos won the Men’s Long Hurdles with a maximum 24 points at the Grand Slam Track meet at the National Stadium in Kingston on Sunday following his victory in the 400m. Jamaica’s Roshawn Clarke, fourth in the 400m, finished second overall.

Dos Santos outlasted his challengers, winning the 400m in 45.52 ahead of Chris Robinson of the USA in a personal best 45.54.

Clarke, who came in the event with eight points from the 400m hurdles, battled hard for his fourth place finish in the 400m with 45.73, and his five points took him to second overall on 13 points. American Caleb Dean was third in the 400m in 45.68, and finished third overall with 12 points.

Robinson finished fourth overall with 11 points while Jamaica’s other competitor, Malik James King, was fifth overall with nine points after finishing fifth in the 400m with 46.57.

Dos Santos will collect the whopping US$100,000 winning prize money while Clarke earns a cool US$50,000.

King will pocket US$20,000 (J$3.1m) and another Jamaican, Assinie Wilson, who finished seventh overall with five points, for his efforts will collect US$12,000 (J$1.9m).
