Frazsiers Whip edge Cavalier to remain perfect in JWPL
Defending champions Frazsiers Whip returned to the top of the Jamaica Women’s Premier League after beating Cavalier FC 2-1 in the top-of-the-table football match at Alpha Institute on Saturday.
As Frazsiers Whip chalked up their eighth-straight win, they improved to 24 points. They are two points ahead of Cavalier FC who were losing for the first time this season.
Arnett Gardens held on to third place with a 3-0 win over visitors WiFi United at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.
Shennel Walters shot Frazsiers Whip into the lead in the 13th minute before Davia Richards doubled the advantage in the 27th minute with her 18th goal of the season.
Tatyana Polack pulled a goal back for Cavalier in the 59th minute, and despite them having the better of play for most of the second half, they were unable to draw level.
Arnett Gardens got their sixth win of the season, beating WiFi United with strikes from Shakira Douglas (18th minute) — her 16th goal of the campaign — Briana Crosby (53rd minute) and Amoy McKenzie (81st minute).
Fourth-place Los Perfectos are a point behind Arnett Gardens thanks to Abigail Elliott’s 10th-minute goal, which gave them a 1-0 victory over Proven Girls.
Fifth-place Mile Gully had a 4-0 win over Federal United to improve to 11 points.
Lara Kay Hanson started the scoring in the sixth minute before a 17th-minute own goal doubled the advantage. Judeen Ebanks scored her third of the season in the 44th minute to make the score 3-0, and Nickela Thomas made it 4-0 in the 55th.
At the UWI Bowl, Alicia James scored a double for UWI Women’s FC as they beat Springers United 3-0.
James gave UWI Women’s FC the lead when she scored in the 42nd minute, while Daniesha Hall scored a second in the 72nd. James completed her brace in the 90th minute.
